Niger : Un porte-hélicoptères amphibie a débarqué au port de Cotonou, selon le général Tiani

During a visit to the Dosso region on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Nigerien President General Abdourahmane Tiani held a public meeting in the Gaya prefecture. Addressing a large crowd, the president spoke about issues of particular concern to the people, notably security and the closure of the Niger-Benin border, which has lasted for over two years.

"French soldiers are in Benin and we know their intentions very well."

According to General Tiani, the government is not keeping this "closed border out of malice, but to protect" Niger and its people, because in reality, "French soldiers driven out of Niger are in Benin".

“I know you are all eagerly awaiting the opening of this border, but you must understand our approach under the banner of ‘Labou Sanni No’. We cannot open this border because we all know what is currently happening. Today, everyone knows that French soldiers are in Benin, and we are very aware of their intentions. The regrouping of these French soldiers began on December 7, 2023,” the Nigerien president stated.

The leader also revealed that an "amphibious helicopter carrier named 'Tonnerre' is currently in the port of Cotonou".

"These people do not have good intentions towards us," continued the coup leader, who said he had sworn to protect his country.

It is worth remembering that Gaya borders the Beninese city of Malanville.
