Opération Tabaski 2026 : Le haut-commandant de la gendarmerie en visite au site de distribution de moutons de Mbao
In the lead-up to the Tabaski (Eid al-Adha) festival, the high commander of the national gendarmerie and director of military justice, Major General Martin Faye, paid a visit on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to the sheep distribution site set up at the General Waly Faye barracks in Mbao, according to Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.

A tradition of solidarity upheld by the gendarmerie's mutual insurance company
This initiative is part of a tradition of support and solidarity upheld by the command through the gendarmerie's mutual aid society. Its aim is to alleviate the financial burden on the families of defense and security forces, as a priority, and on the general public, by providing sheep at affordable prices. Payment can be made in cash or by payroll deduction for subscribers with a payslip.

In response to the high demand this year, General Martin Faye commended the dedication of the staff deployed in the field. The major innovation of this year's event was the introduction of computer technology to facilitate and streamline the sheep distribution process.

A symbolic handover to conclude the visit
Before leaving, General Martin Faye symbolically handed over sheep to some beneficiaries and wished them an excellent Tabaski celebration.
