South African Ambassador to France Emmanuel Mthethwa is dead. The 58-year-old diplomat's body was found at the foot of the Hyatt Regency Hotel, near Porte Maillot in the capital's 17th arrondissement, the Paris prosecutor's office confirmed to Le Figaro. He reportedly jumped out of a window.
The prosecution stated that Emmanuel Mthethwa had booked "a room on the 22nd floor" of the 4-star hotel, whose security window was forced open. His wife had reported him missing the day before, after receiving a "worrying" message from him that evening.
An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the Brigade for the Suppression of Crimes Against the Person (BRDP).
