Présidentielle en Côte d’Ivoire : Le siège des commissions électorales locales de Yamoussoukro victime d'un incendie

In Côte d'Ivoire, the headquarters of the local electoral commissions in Yamoussoukro was set on fire by protesters on Monday, October 20. This was reported by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in an official statement released yesterday, Tuesday. It said it "strongly condemns these acts of incivility," while reassuring its staff that "security measures are being taken to prevent any similar incidents."

The incident does not in any way hinder "the holding of the vote scheduled for October 25."

Although the fire caused material damage, no injuries were reported, and the offices damaged by the flames contained only office supplies. The CEI assures that the incident in no way hinders "the holding of the election scheduled for October 25."

She calls for civic-mindedness and responsibility from all Ivorians so that the election can be transparent, credible and peaceful.
