Présidentielle 2025 : Le Général Mamadi Doumbouya convoque officiellement le corps électoral pour le 28 décembre
A major turning point has just been reached in the Guinean electoral process. On the evening of Thursday, November 13, 2025, the President of the Transition, General Mamadi Doumbouya, issued a decree convening the electorate for the presidential election of December 28, 2025. This decision comes the day after the Supreme Court validated the final list of nine candidates authorized to run.
The decree read on national television specifies that voting operations will begin at 7:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m., and that the vote will be conducted using a single ballot, a system designed to enhance the transparency and clarity of the vote.
This convocation marks a decisive step towards a return to constitutional order, more than four years after the National Committee for the Rally for Development (CNRD) seized power. For several months, political actors, civil society, and international partners had been calling for clarification of the electoral calendar. This decree thus sets the course for a long-awaited electoral process.
A total of 6.7 million Guinean voters will go to the polls to elect the person who will lead the country for the next seven years. Among the nine candidates is General Mamadi Doumbouya himself, whose candidacy is already sparking heated debate within the political class. Opposing him are several prominent figures on the national scene, all seeking to offer a genuine alternative and redefine Guinea's political future.
With just over a month to go before the election, the announcement of the electoral body's convocation opens a crucial phase: that of operational preparations, the electoral campaign, and final institutional adjustments. This event promises to be decisive for the country's future, in a climate where aspirations for change, security concerns, and socio-economic challenges are closely intertwined.
