The outcome of Cameroon's October 12 presidential election continues to be the subject of discussion, even outside the country's borders. Tibor Nagy, the former U.S. Undersecretary of State for African Affairs, criticized the election, which once again resulted in incumbent President Paul Biya winning the election.
"I guess Biya's clique is already planning for him to run again at 99."
"What happened in Cameroon is tragically what I feared and have been saying for several months. I suspect that Biya's clique is already predicting that he will run again at 99 years old - and the electoral commission will undoubtedly declare him the winner! The results are already in," charged the professor emeritus of Texas Tech University.
It should be noted that the results of the October 12 election are being contested by the main opposition leader, Issa Tchiroma. The latter claims victory and promises to liberate Cameroon at the cost of his life, if necessary.
