The assailant allegedly surprised her from behind before dragging her into a bedroom. According to the young woman's chilling testimony, he threw her onto a mattress and put his hand inside her underwear in a clear attempt to undress her.
The timely intervention of the grandmother, who was looking for her granddaughter, stopped the attack. Neighbors then subdued the suspect before the arrival of the Guédiawaye police.
Certificate of expiration of sentence
The most astonishing element of the investigation lies in the document found on B. Sy during his search: a certificate of expiry of sentence, the newspaper points out. The daily newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM) specifies that this document attests that the suspect had just served a sentence for theft and that he had been released the very morning of the incident. This recidivism, occurring in record time, weighed heavily in the case.
Confession after a grotesque denial
When questioned by investigators, the young man initially tried to clumsily justify himself, claiming he had gone to the scene to "get some change." Confronted with the inconsistencies in his story and the pressure of witness testimonies, he finally confessed and begged for leniency. The prosecutor ordered his immediate detention for attempted rape, according to the Gfm news report.
