Tentative de déstabilisation du Burkina : Comment les "comploteurs" comptaient "assassiner" le capitaine Traoré
Yesterday, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Burkina Faso's Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, announced the failure of yet another attempt to destabilize the institutions of the Republic, thanks to the vigilance of the intelligence services.
According to the authorities, this subversive operation, planned for "January 3, 2026, at 11:00 PM," aimed to assassinate, initially, "civilian and military authorities, beginning with Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State and President of Burkina Faso." The conspirators intended to neutralize him "either at close range or by mining his residence."
A "ground military intervention by external forces"
The plan was to subsequently disable the country's drone base and launch a ground military intervention by external forces. Minister Sana specifically named former president Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba as the mastermind behind this latest attempt to destabilize the government in Ouagadougou.
"His key mission was to design and plan operations, and to seek and mobilize funds to recruit civilian and military populations," the authority revealed.
"A significant portion of the funding comes from Ivory Coast."
He also indicated that a "significant portion" of the funds intended to finance the operation "comes from Ivory Coast." The latest transfer "amounts to 70 million CFA francs," he stated.
Finally, the minister promised to make available to the media videos of confessions from some key players involved in this attempt to destabilize the country of upright men.
