L' AES condamne l'attaque préméditée contre Niamey et met en garde les soutiens étrangers
The Confederation of Sahel States (AES) strongly condemned the attack that occurred in Niamey on the night of January 28-29, 2026, targeting Air Base 101 and Diori Hamani International Airport. In a statement signed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the AES's current President, the organization described the attack as a "barbaric and cowardly attack" against the Sahelian people.
According to the Swiss Security Council (SSC), this was a premeditated and coordinated operation targeting both strategic and civilian infrastructure, endangering innocent populations. The Confederation believes that this violence is part of a destabilization strategy supported by multifaceted networks, including foreign backers, for which responsibility is engaged.
The AES warns against any form of support or complacency towards these acts and reaffirms that the perpetrators, as well as their supporters, will be held accountable for their actions.
