PDCI-RDA President Cheick Tidjane Thiam met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for West Africa at the State Department, Williams B. Stevens, in Washington yesterday, Monday, September 15. Discussions between the two men focused on democracy and stability in Côte d'Ivoire.
Let us recall that the former head of Credit Suisse had already met the former French president, François Hollande, in Paris at the end of August.
His presidential candidacy definitively rejected
They had "constructive discussions on peace, fraternity and the organization of an inclusive, transparent and peaceful presidential election in Côte d'Ivoire."
Tidjane Thiam's activity in the West may be due to his removal from the electoral roll and the definitive rejection of his candidacy for the presidential election on October 25 in his country.
The leader of the PDCI-RDA accuses President Alassane Ouattara of leading the country into a dead end by attacking freedoms and using the state apparatus to repress the opposition.
