Campagne arachidière : Le député Mbaye Dione avait pourtant alerté
The deputy mayor and secretary general of the Alliance of Progressive Forces (AFP), Mbaye Dione, accompanied by a large delegation, paid a courtesy visit to religious centers in Kaolack.
The MP seized the opportunity to revisit the peanut campaign. He recalled that he had raised the alarm as early as November by questioning the Minister of Finance, noting that the peanut and corn harvests were good. Consequently, it was necessary to find financial resources to purchase the produce.
“Unfortunately, a budget of 130 billion was allocated for the purchase of peanut seeds. The campaign was opened on December 5th. We are now exactly on January 5th, one month to the day. The Prime Minister came to Saloum today to acknowledge the shortcomings of the State, but this is to tell you that it is a blatant incompetence,” he said.
According to the MP, the funding is usually secured very early on with the support of the banks. He believes that, due to the economic crisis, Senegal is struggling to raise the 130 billion CFA francs.
