In reviewing the communications, the Council of Ministers also paid particular attention to the peanut marketing campaign and the future directions of national agricultural policy.

The statement specifies that "the agricultural marketing campaign constitutes a crucial period in national economic and social life", which leads the President of the Republic to ask the Prime Minister about the State's responsibilities during this strategic phase.

In this regard, the Head of State asks him "to take all appropriate measures to ensure the best conditions for financing and marketing agricultural production."

The official text recalls "the imperative of a consensual overhaul of agricultural policy, based on water management, the expansion of facilities, the improvement of equipment and yields, the development of storage and preservation units for products, as well as the concerted revision of financing and subsidy frameworks."

The press release specifies that it "includes the restructuring of agricultural markets, the redefinition of the economic model of Agriculture and the development of the national agro-industry", in connection with the ambitions of sovereignty and the valorization of local productions.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye asked the government "to ensure the adoption, in the Council of Ministers, before the end of January 2026, of the draft law on agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries policy and its implementing texts", in order to provide the sector with an updated and coherent legal framework.
