Fièvre de la vallée du rift : 171 cas, 20 décès et 128 guéris
The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene has just provided an update on the development of the two epidemics currently underway in the country.
For Rift Valley fever (RVF), since the beginning of the epidemic, Senegal has recorded 171 confirmed cases, including 20 deaths and 128 recoveries, according to the department. The Saint-Louis region is the most affected, with 159 cases.
For MPOX, or monkeypox, since the confirmation of the first case on August 22, 2025, 6 confirmed cases and 2 probable cases have been recorded. They are all located in the Dakar region. "Eight (8) people have recovered and no deaths have been reported. A total of 78 contact persons have been identified since the start of the epidemic, of which 27 have been removed from follow-up," the press release states.
The Ministry of Health calls on the population to be vigilant, to scrupulously respect preventive measures and to actively collaborate with health workers and community relays to contain these epidemics.
