Hôtel Radisson Diamniadio : Le licenciement de 19 employés contractuels fait grand bruit

Since Monday, August 25, a wave of anger has been sweeping through the Radisson Diamniadio Hotel. Nineteen employees on permanent contracts, most of whom have been there since the hotel's opening, have been notified of a "negotiated departure" imposed by management. In reality, this is a "dismissal in disguise," the workers denounce.

Everything happened very quickly: on August 25, they received a letter ordering them to leave the company. The next day, management returned with a financial offer to take it or leave it, or face dismissal.

The employees, shocked by these methods, immediately decided to consult their lawyers. But surprise: management refused their legal assistance, according to the chairman of the staff representatives, Omar Dia.

The situation took another turn on Friday, August 30. Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, contacted by the delegates, ordered a stay of the layoffs through Dame Mbodji, Director General of the Public Infrastructure Management Company in the Urban Centers of Diamniadio and Lac Rose (SOGIP SA), while a solution was found. But management simply ignored this instruction, going so far as to ban the nineteen employees from entering the hotel on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. "This failure to comply with the Prime Minister's instruction is a humiliation for our authorities on the part of this hotel management," denounced Mr. Dia. Reached by telephone, Mr. Mbodj did not want to elaborate on the subject with Seneweb.

Behind this standoff, workers point to an exploitative system that benefits a handful of hotel managers more than the national economy. No fewer than twelve key positions are currently occupied by managers who are housed, fed, cared for, and supported with their families, benefiting from round-trip airfare. "How can we say the hotel isn't profitable when some spend more than 100,000 CFA francs in a single evening?" fumes one employee.

At the same time, the same management is charging exorbitant prices at the Radisson Diamniadio, while undercutting prices at another nearby hotel, creating competition deemed unfair.

A member of the management, who requested anonymity, confirmed the delegates' denunciations: "Everything the delegates say is the pure truth."

Faced with what they consider an attempt at sabotage, the workers have decided to escalate. Starting this Tuesday, September 2, they will be on an indefinite hunger strike until their demands are met.

The crisis comes as the hotel hosts the Senegalese national football team, which is in the midst of preparations for the World Cup qualifier against Sudan, scheduled for Friday, September 5.

    Maname??
