Assemblée : Guy Marius Sagna réclame la rupture diplomatique entre le Sénégal et Israël
MP Guy Marius Sagna addressed the National Assembly during a plenary session to defend firm positions on several diplomatic and regional issues. His intervention took place during the examination of two bills concerning agreements between Senegal, Guinea, and The Gambia.
Referring to the situation in the Middle East, the parliamentarian openly called for a diplomatic break between Senegal and the State of Israel. "I know the government's position, but I don't agree. The right decision is to break with this state," he declared, clearly acknowledging a divergence from the official line of the executive branch.
In the same vein of questioning, Guy Marius Sagna challenged Foreign Minister Cheikh Niang on the fate of Senegalese football supporters detained in Morocco. He demanded clarification on the steps taken by the authorities to secure their release, emphasizing the need for effective consular protection for Senegalese citizens abroad.
Returning to the "Emballo affair," the MP was particularly critical. He argued that the former head of state in question was "a victim of his own coup" and therefore maintained that he should not be allowed to use the Senegalese presidential plane.
Finally, the parliamentarian expressed a radical departure from the regional organization. "We don't need an ECOWAS of heads of state," he declared, implicitly advocating for an organization more focused on the concerns of the people rather than the interests of leaders.
