Coopération internationale : Le Sénégal consolide ses liens stratégiques avec l’UNESCO
During a visit to Paris, the Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad, Cheikh Niang, was received in audience by the Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany. Following this meeting, the two officials welcomed the convergence of views between Senegal and the UN organization, particularly on issues related to promoting peace and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They emphasized the urgent need to intensify international efforts to effectively address global challenges.
Discussions also focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in light of major international events. These include the 3rd United Nations Water Conference and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the organization of which is a major priority for Senegal.
Through this initiative, Dakar intends to consolidate its position within UNESCO and enhance the responsibilities entrusted to it. To this end, the Senegalese authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to the organization's ideals, continuing the legacy of Amadou Mahtar Mbow, an emblematic figure of multilateralism and cultural diplomacy.
This audience reflects Senegal's desire to strengthen its strategic partnerships and to play an active role in international efforts for peace, sustainable development and multilateral cooperation.
