« Éduquez-la ! » : la vice-consule du Sénégal à Milan violemment agressée

According to information reported by Libération, a serious incident occurred at the Senegalese Consulate in Milan: Vice-Consul Sophie Diatta Ndiaye, also Pastef's vice-coordinator in Italy, was violently attacked by a consulate driver.

The incident took place last Thursday. The altercation reportedly began when the vice-consul, bothered by noises in the corridors while she was on the phone, asked the officers to be discreet, reminding them - according to the newspaper - that "the Consulate welcomes Senegalese people and must project an exemplary image."

The tone quickly escalated. Some officers reportedly criticized her for her authoritarian tone, which they attributed to her membership in the Pastef party. One of the drivers then violently grabbed her hand, twisted her arm, and then held her by the neck, while other employees encouraged him, according to the same source.

Sophie Diatta Ndiaye was medically examined and granted a seven-day temporary incapacity for work (ITT). She filed a complaint.

Libération points out that this incident is not an isolated one, but is part of a climate of persistent tensions within several consulates, since the appointment of officials from the Pastef party to diplomatic positions. Contacted by the daily newspaper, the vice-consul declined to comment on the matter.
