Gaz Sénégalais : Rencontre à New York entre le Pr. Diomaye et le Pdg de Kosmos
After receiving Meg O'Neill, head of Woodside (operator of Sangomar), the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, granted an audience to the CEO of Kosmos Energy, in the United States. His company is the operator of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas field, located between Senegal and Mauritania.
According to the Presidency of the Republic, Professor Diomaye and Andy Inglis discussed strengthening the partnership between Senegal and Kosmos, as well as the progress of ongoing projects in the energy sector.
"The two parties reaffirmed their desire to build cooperation based on mutual benefits and, above all, geared towards improving the living conditions of the population," the presidency said.
This does not, however, provide information on whether the issue of supplying natural gas to the local industry was discussed during the hearing. This remains one of the points of contention between the Senegalese government and the gas companies operating in the GTA field.
"By 2026, we don't want to go looking for nine shipments of gas from very far away to bring them to Senegal, when there is gas produced here. We want to source it right here and we will take the necessary steps to do so," Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko declared last August.
Regarding the renegotiation of contracts, the Head of State had been optimistic. On April 3, 2025, he announced that "the process of renegotiation of contracts is following its normal course" and that "the results obtained so far are more than satisfactory."

Bon Dieu, il n'y a pas de gaz sénégalais ! Il y a des gisements de gaz au Sénégal ! Et puis à tous les petits crétins qui croient que c'est les contrats sont signés sur du " papier libre " , je leur dis de retourner à l'école car on ne connait rien, on ferme sa gueule !
