Sommet de l’OEACP à Malabo : Le Sénégal plaide pour une transformation structurelle et solidaire

The city of Malabo, in Equatorial Guinea, was the center of intercontinental diplomacy from March 27 to 29, 2026. On the occasion of the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), Senegal reaffirmed its leading role in building a "transformed and renewed OACPS in a changing world".

A Senegalese voice for Vision 2050

Representing the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the Minister of the Environment and Ecological Transition, Dr. Eladji Abdourahmane Diouf, delivered a message of change and ambition. Faithful to the guidelines of "Senegal Vision 2050," the Minister emphasized "the development of local resources and the growth of high value-added sectors."

This active participation demonstrates Senegal's commitment to building a "resilient and job-creating economic sovereignty," while advocating for global governance that "prioritizes solidarity and respect for the environment." The country is thus embarking on a structural transformation capable of meeting contemporary challenges without sacrificing its "natural capital."

Climate emergency and new leadership

The summit, which also celebrated the organization's 50th anniversary, placed "South-South cooperation" at the heart of the discussions as a lever for transformation. The leaders of the 79 member states emphasized "sustainable financing for development" and the need to build responses to the "climate crises that threaten our nations."

This meeting was also marked by a major institutional transition. The President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, was elected head of the OACPS, succeeding João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço of Angola. This new leadership will be tasked with guiding collaborative initiatives aimed at "inclusive and sustainable economic development," a trajectory that Senegal intends to actively support in order to strengthen the resilience of the ACP bloc on the international stage.

Sommet des chefs d’états on envoie Abdourahmane Diouf. C’est évident qu’il sera bientôt le prochain premier ministre de ce pays. Au moins un sachant va être chef de gouvernement
