On an official visit to Ankara, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko was received this Thursday by the President of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This meeting is part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, already linked by a solid strategic partnership.
Representing the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the head of the Senegalese government reaffirmed Senegal's desire to intensify its relations with Turkey, by granting a privileged place to Turkish partners in the implementation of the Senegal 2050 Agenda. This visionary agenda aims to structurally transform the national economy and ensure inclusive, sustainable and sovereign development.
President Erdoğan welcomed Senegal's recently launched Economic and Social Recovery Plan. He particularly emphasized its endogenous nature, reflecting a clear commitment to autonomy and economic resilience. He also reaffirmed his country's full commitment to supporting Senegal's systemic transformation drive.
Beyond development issues, the two sides discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza. Both authorities expressed their outrage at the violence and strongly condemned the ongoing genocide. The Turkish President praised Senegal's consistent and courageous stance on this issue, emphasizing its commitment to the principles of justice, peace, and international solidarity.
