ONU : « Macky Sall s'impose naturellement »
In an interview with L'Observateur, Djimo Souaré, vice-president of the Takku Wallu parliamentary group, vigorously defends the possible candidacy of Macky Sall for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).
For the APR official, the name of the former Senegalese head of state "naturally stands out" on the international stage. He presents him as a leader capable of "transcending divisions" in a world marked by geopolitical fractures. According to him, such a candidacy would not stem from personal ambition, but from a "need: to serve in the best interests of Africa and the world." He also asserts that several heads of state and international partners see Macky Sall as a figure of "unity."
Asked about the criticisms made by the current Pastef regime, particularly regarding human rights and deaths during demonstrations, Djimo Souaré denounces an "agitation [which] has political overtones" aimed at discrediting the former president.
He also recalls that Macky Sall had opted for appeasement through the amnesty law and challenges the current majority to repeal it if it truly wishes to "place responsibilities", while denouncing a manipulation of the law "according to political circumstances".
According to the interviewee of the Groupe Futurs Médias daily newspaper, seeing Macky Sall accede to a high responsibility within the UN would constitute "an honor for Senegal" and would strengthen its "economic, social and cultural influence".
