Artisanat africain : Bamba Sow honoré en Côte d'Ivoire
Senegalese ingenuity shines once again on the continental stage. Cheikh Amadou Bamba Sow, a leading figure and pioneer of craftsmanship in Senegal and Africa, was warmly honored in Abidjan. The University Center for Professional Studies (CUP) in the Ivorian capital awarded him the prestigious title of Doctor Honoris Causa during a solemn ceremony attended by distinguished figures from both countries.
A successful entrepreneur, CEO of Bamba Sow Design Prestige and president of the Grand Gathering of Artisans of Senegal (GRAS), Mr. Sow has established himself as a key player in promoting the arts and crafts. His career, marked by innovation, the transmission of know-how, and the promotion of African cultural heritage, has now culminated in high-level academic recognition.
The ceremony took place in the presence of a large Senegalese delegation, composed of industry professionals, institutional partners, and close collaborators. In his address, the Founding President of the CUP, Dr. Kouadio J. Moya, praised him as "a model of excellence, perseverance, and vision." He highlighted the recipient's remarkable contribution to the structuring and modernization of the African artisanal sector, while emphasizing the need to promote such inspiring figures to younger generations.
According to the institution's press release, this distinction was awarded at the suggestion of the Groupe Afrique Émergence Communication (GAEC), headed by Mouhamed Ndao, an organization that works to recognize African talent in strategic sectors. For the CUP, this tribute goes beyond Mr. Sow himself: it highlights the importance of craftsmanship as a genuine driver of economic and social development in Africa.
