The Ministry of Justice's 2026 draft budget was reviewed and adopted on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The budget, championed by Minister Yassine Fall, is part of a return to normalcy after an exceptional effort the previous year.

For the 2026 fiscal year, the ministry's budget is set at 81,006,199,801 CFA francs in payment appropriations. This amount represents a decrease of 16.79 billion CFA francs, or -17%, compared to the 97,794,361,061 CFA francs of 2025.

This decrease is mainly due to the non-renewal in 2026 of the 20 billion CFA francs of capital transfers which had been allocated in 2025 as part of the Judicial Infrastructure Modernization Program.

Despite this contraction, Minister Yassine Fall affirmed that the commitment to ensuring an efficient and transparent public justice system remains. The 2026 budget will focus on six priorities: Strengthening the judicial presence throughout the country and facilitating access for litigants; Improving the functioning of the courts through better support for judges and judicial staff; Continuing to humanize detention conditions and improve security; Reducing processing times and strengthening traceability and governance through digital technology; Consolidating mechanisms for preventing abuse and enhancing support for vulnerable individuals; and Ensuring ongoing training for judicial professionals to support reforms.

The minister emphasized that the budget reduction does not represent a decrease in ambition. "A modern, accessible justice system that respects human rights remains at the heart of our republican mission," she stated. The ministry is committed to a justice system that is "closer, faster, and fairer for all."
