The Southern Regional Customs Directorate, which covers the Kolda, Sédhiou, and Ziguinchor regions, boasts a stellar financial health. On the sidelines of International Customs Day, celebrated on January 26, 2026, these economic agents unveiled a report for 2025 marked by exceptional performance, both in terms of budget and the fight against trafficking.

A rapidly growing revenue mobilization

The Regional Directorate's revenue has surpassed the symbolic milestone of 5 billion CFA francs. Customs clearances reached 5,758,709,966 CFA francs in 2025, compared to 4,822,025,888 CFA francs in 2024. This represents a remarkable year-on-year increase of 19%. Concurrently, revenue from disputes followed the same upward trend, rising by 18% from 1.27 billion CFA francs in 2024 to 1.49 billion CFA francs last year.

Fighting crime: seizures worth tens of billions

The year 2025 was also marked by numerous victories against transnational organized crime. Operational units, under the coordination of Colonel Cheikh Diouf, achieved a series of successful operations. Seizures totaled 386.5 kg of cocaine, with an estimated street value of 30 billion CFA francs, and 5,168 kg of cannabis valued at 505 million CFA francs. In addition, 41,064 counterfeit banknotes with a potential street value of over 5.5 billion CFA francs were seized, along with a significant quantity of counterfeit medications estimated at over 9 million CFA francs. All of these contraband products were incinerated on January 21st at the Mamatora landfill in the Emanpore district.

These results perfectly align with the theme of International Customs Day 2026, entitled "Customs that protects society through vigilance and commitment." Colonel Cheikh Diouf commended the management of the field units and the unwavering support of the Directorate General. This success is also the result of inter-force synergy. Administrative and customs authorities expressed their appreciation for the exemplary collaboration between the various defense and security forces in the region, which is essential for guaranteeing stability and peace in Casamance.
