Consommation : Une baisse de 50 F CFA sur le kilo de riz brisé importé annoncée
The National Consumer Council announced on Thursday a significant price reduction for imported broken rice, a staple food in Senegal. Following a meeting chaired by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Serigne Guèye Diop, a consensus was reached between importers, traders, shopkeepers, and consumer associations on a reduction of 50 CFA francs per kilogram.
Thus, the price of a kilo of imported broken rice should increase to 300 CFA francs, starting from the beginning of 2026, subject to validation by the Head of State.
This decision is part of the authorities' efforts to reduce the cost of living and boost household purchasing power.
Presiding over the proceedings, the minister praised the "sense of responsibility and patriotism" of economic actors, highlighting the importance of dialogue and consultation in regulating the prices of consumer goods.
