Croissance dans l’UEMOA : Yoro Dia fustige le déclin du Sénégal, désormais « dernier de la classe »
Former minister and political scientist Dr. Yoro Dia reacted strongly to the latest economic growth forecasts for 2026 within the WAEMU. Referring to a graph from the Ecofin Agency (citing the World Bank), he lamented Senegal's position, which lags behind with a rate of 4.1%, far behind Benin (7.0%) and Niger (6.7%).
For Yoro Dia, this ranking signals a worrying shift. He rejects what he calls the "banality of being last in the class," after having long occupied top spots under previous regimes. The intellectual directly points the finger at the responsibility of the new authorities, questioning the nature of Pastef's "emotional patriotism."
According to him, this economic downturn is nothing other than "the negation of Senegal, of its greatness, its glory, its history and its exceptional status".
