Chantiers navals de Dakar : entre l’État et les Hollandais, les négociations coincent
A delegation from Damen Shipyards, a Dutch defense, shipbuilding, and engineering group, is expected in Senegal in the coming days to finalize negotiations with the government for the reopening of the Dakar shipyards. Discussions between the two parties are currently stalled, according to Libération.
However, the newspaper reports that Damen has already been designated the provisional winner of the contract and an agreement has been reached on the entry fee, set at 3.3 billion CFA francs. The sticking point, according to the same source, lies in "the Dutch company's other financial proposals," which the government considers "unfavorable." These proposals include, the daily newspaper details, the payment of royalties and land management.
"Even though Damen's technical experience is undeniable, it did not offer anything better than the Turkish group Ozata, whose contract had been cancelled due to the change of regime, or Lisnave, the current operator, which gave a second life to the Dakar shipyards under the socialist regime," Libération reports.
