Économie sénégalaise : Les chiffres "exceptionnels" des exportations, portées par les ventes d’or, de pétrole…
The year 2025 ended in spectacular fashion. Indeed, Senegalese exports reached an exceptional level in December, surging to 825.3 billion CFA francs compared to 323.6 billion CFA francs the previous month – a 155% increase.
An unprecedented level, achieved thanks to the increase in sales of non-monetary gold abroad (206.8 billion FCFA compared to 95.9 billion the previous month), crude oil and liquefied natural gas (106.3 billion FCFA compared to 45.5 billion) and refined petroleum products (90.4 billion FCFA compared to 49.7 billion).
5935.2 billion in 2025, compared to 3909.1 billion in 2024
Compared to December 2024, exports increased by 104.1%. Their cumulative total at the end of December 2025 stood at 5935.2 billion FCFA compared to 3909.1 billion FCFA for the same period in 2024. This represents an increase of 51.8%.
Switzerland, Belgium, Mali, Spain and the United Kingdom were Senegal's main customers for the month of December, according to the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD) in its monthly bulletin on foreign trade statistics.
As for imports, they fell sharply in December, totaling 544.8 billion FCFA compared to 713.3 billion FCFA the previous month, representing a decrease of 23.6%.
The trade deficit is deep, but improving.
The decline is explained by the decrease in purchases from abroad of "other transport equipment" (7.3 billion FCFA compared to 195.9 billion FCFA the previous month), pharmaceutical products (17.6 billion FCFA compared to 23.9 billion FCFA) and raw and refined sugars (4.0 billion FCFA compared to 14.5 billion FCFA).
China, France, Russia, India and the Netherlands are Senegal's main suppliers in December 2025.
Thus, for the month of December, the trade balance stood at +280.5 billion FCFA, compared to -389.7 billion FCFA the previous month. However, overall, the cumulative trade balance at the end of December 2025 stands at -1,343.9 billion FCFA, compared to -3,252.3 billion FCFA for the same period in 2024.
