Recognized today at the World Bank's Annual Meetings in Washington DC, the Simandou project stands out as one of the most inspiring models of transformative development in Africa.
With over $20 billion in investments, Simandou is not just a mining project—it's a true economic and national transformation. It generates over 12,000 direct jobs and approximately 1.2 million corridor-related opportunities, while boosting the infrastructure, logistics, energy, and community development sectors.
Today, Guinea, rated B+ by international agencies, is establishing itself as the second-largest economic power in French-speaking West Africa. In 2022, it crossed the lower-middle-income threshold, confirming the strength of its growth trajectory.
Simandou's impact is already being measured on a large scale:
• $1.4 billion per year in taxes and royalties,
• $200 million per year in salaries and wages,
• More than $3 billion spent locally with suppliers,
• And $15 million per year invested directly in communities.
The spontaneous and enthusiastic discussions highlighted this large-scale project as a concrete example of a win-win partnership on the African continent.
This recognition by the World Bank confirms that Simandou is much more than a mining project: it is a symbol of a new Guinea, open, ambitious and resolutely turned towards a future of shared and sustainable prosperity.

Malgré des générations au Sénégal, on me rappelle toujours mes origines alors que je ne connais rien de la Guinée.
