Usine ISEVEM : Le Sénégal franchit un cap vers une industrie de défense souveraine
The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, inaugurated, this Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Diamniadio, the ISEVEM factory for the assembly of tactical military vehicles, "marking a historic step in the construction of a national defense industry".
Through this project, the State of Senegal intends to assert industrial and technological sovereignty, aiming in particular to "reduce its external dependence" and to "strengthen the strategic autonomy of its defense and security forces".
Born from a public-private partnership between the State and ISEVEM, this infrastructure is part of "a gradual and realistic vision", with the ambition of developing local capacities "for assembly, maintenance and, in the long term, design and production of defence equipment".
Beyond the security issue, the factory is presented as "a major lever for industrialization", promoting the creation of skilled jobs and the transfer of skills to national talent, particularly young people.
