The Kaolack International Fair (FIKA) opened its doors this Thursday with 800 exhibitors expected for this 10th anniversary of the event initiated by the main local consular chamber.

The capital of the Saloum region has launched the 10th edition of the Kaolack International Fair (FIKA), an event designed to revitalize, promote, and raise awareness of local crafts. Exhibitors have come from several different countries. The fair will be held from April 23 to May 10. The announcement was made by Serigne Mboup, president of the Kaolack Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture and the event's initiator, at a press conference.

While awaiting the official opening this Saturday, activities are already underway for visitors who have flocked to the exhibition center in the "Cœur de Ville" complex. This year's theme is: "Industrialization and Economic Sovereignty: Territories at the Forefront." The event aligns with the new national authorities' 2050 vision.

"We expect more than 25 countries, 300,000 visitors, and 800 exhibitors for this year's edition," stated the initiator, Serigne Mboup. He added that major innovations will be introduced: "The key focus of the International Fair is the innovations we are implementing in digitalization, a series of business meetings, the 'Guerté d'Or' gala evening, and the transporters' forum, all in response to the current challenges facing this sector. Today, consumers demand quality service. If they don't, transporters will fall behind. We need to make changes to bus stations and markets to modernize them and eliminate uncontrolled development," said the head of the CCIAK.
