Kédougou : la baisse des prix du carburant jugée insuffisante par les usagers
The nationwide reduction in fuel prices is now in effect in the municipality of Kédougou. Since Saturday, a liter of premium gasoline has been priced at 920 CFA francs, while diesel is sold at 680 CFA francs. This decrease should provide relief to consumers, but is widely considered insufficient by some users.
At gas stations and bus stations across the city, many feel this measure falls short of expectations. Drivers, transport operators, and passengers alike denounce it as a "symbolic" reduction that fails to truly alleviate their daily expenses.
"This decrease changes almost nothing. We still spend too much on fuel," laments Samba Diallo, a transporter encountered at the Kédougou bus station as he was preparing to travel to Kéniéba, Mali.
"In Mali, gasoline costs less than in Senegal, even though Mali gets its supplies here. It doesn't make sense. We are asking the government for a more substantial price reduction."
The same sentiment is echoed by drivers of so-called "clando" vehicles, who provide intercity and sometimes intercommunal transport.
"A reduction of more than 200 francs for super would have been reasonable," says Abdou Ndour, a driver on the Kédougou–Saraya line.
"With the high cost of parts, tires, vehicle inspections, and even food, a reduction of 50 or 60 francs doesn't help us."

Several motorists encountered outside gas stations agree with this view, mentioning an almost imperceptible effect on household budgets.
"We expected better. The government needs to step up its efforts," argues Awa Tamba, a driver.
"When you put 10,000 francs in the tank, you don't feel any difference."
For the consumers surveyed, a reduction of 200 francs on super fuel and 150 francs on diesel would be "acceptable" and would finally constitute a real impact in a context of a general increase in the cost of living.
Road transport stakeholders are therefore calling on the State to analyze the reality on the ground, particularly in isolated areas like Kédougou, where populations are heavily dependent on motorized transport to access essential services.
