Ministère de la Famille et de la Solidarité Nationale : Le Budget 2026 sabré de 30 %
The 2026 draft budget of the Ministry of Family, Social Action and Solidarity (MIFASS) was examined and adopted this Monday, November 17, 2025. Minister Maïmouna Dièye defended an envelope of 122.81 billion CFA francs in payment credits, marking a significant decrease.
The 2026 budget shows a contraction of 54.40 billion CFA francs, or -30%, compared to the 2025 budget.
This significant decrease is the direct result of the restructuring of the State's missions (decrees of September 2025), which led to the transfer of major investment programs to the Ministry of Infrastructure, including: PUMA (Emergency Program for the Modernization of Axes and Territories), PUDC (Emergency Program for Community Development), PROMOVILLES.
Despite the overall reduction, Minister Maïmouna Dièye assured that MIFASS remains fully committed. The reduction is considered a "structural adjustment" that allows for a refocusing of efforts on the most urgent social needs.
The 2026 envelope is primarily dedicated to strengthening support for vulnerable families, the elderly, children in difficult situations, and people living with disabilities; promoting their protection, supporting their economic empowerment and combating gender-based violence (GBV); digitizing social registers and improving beneficiary targeting.
“Our mission remains unchanged: to protect, support and strengthen the resilience of populations. The institutional reorganization allows us to refocus our action on social issues, where the needs are most urgent,” the minister said.
