Mission du Fmi dépêchée au Sénégal : ce que le ministre de l’Économie leur a dit
As announced, a mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is currently in Senegal. On Tuesday, it met with Abdourahmane Sarr, Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation. Mr. Mlachila Montfort, Deputy Director of the Fund's Africa Department, and his staff held in-depth discussions with Mr. Sarr.
The Ministry of Economy, in a press release, informs that during the discussions, Abdourahmane Sarr "returned to the promising profile of growth over the coming years, notwithstanding the temporary impact of the budgetary adjustment linked to the elimination of non-productive public expenditure on growth during the period 2025-2026."
He argued that in the medium term, after the consolidation of public finances, vigorous economic growth should be recorded with the implementation of Vision Senegal 2050, based on the country's historical performance as a foundation.
The discussions also focused on public debt. On this point, Minister Sarr reiterated "its sustainable nature, given the recognized parameters for analyzing its dynamics," the press release stated.
Abdourahmane Sarr also called on the IMF to assess Senegal's situation beyond the official frameworks applied to low-income countries, taking into account its structural specificities, including membership in a monetary union, the importance of migrant transfers as a source of foreign currency, and access to international financial markets. For him, "in these respects, Senegal's dynamics remain positive."
The press release also states that the Minister of Economy reiterated the Government's firm commitment to finalizing, after discussions that began several months ago, a new program with the IMF, while emphasizing the catalytic role that this institution must play to accelerate the process.

Le pays file droit dans le mur en klaxonnant fort. Ousmane SONKO a niqué le Sénégal.
L'Europe et les États-unis doivent extrader tous les voleurs de deniers publics, er ne plus en héberger.
