Produits halieutiques : 180 acteurs formés aux normes de qualité et à la valorisation de la sardinelle
The Directorate of Fisheries Processing Industries (DITP) of the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, in collaboration with the Natural Resources Management Project in Senegal (SENRM), conducted training for 180 actors in the fisheries sector between January and May 2026.
The capacity-building program benefited 60 health inspectors and 120 quality managers from fishing establishments, shipowners, and docks. This initiative primarily aimed to improve the beneficiaries' skills in quality control and processing of fishery products.
According to the organizers, this upgrade contributes to protecting consumer health while strengthening Senegal's credibility in international seafood export markets.
The training also placed particular emphasis on the development of local fishery resources, especially sardinella, through innovative processing techniques such as the production of fish burgers.
For five months, the DITP and the SENRM project worked on producing knowledge and skills deemed essential for the development of the Senegalese maritime economy.
