Séance de travail : Une mission du Fmi reçue au Ministère de l’Economie
Discussions between Senegal and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have not broken down. Indeed, the two parties are continuing their exchanges, even though the formalization of a new program is still delayed. This Friday, the Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation announced that he had received a delegation from the Bretton Woods institution.
According to the ministry, this was a working session dedicated to the preparation of the Report on Compliance with Standards and Codes (ROSC). "On this occasion, Abdourahmane Sarr reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Senegal to strengthening the transparency and quality of macroeconomic data, in accordance with international standards," the ministry stated.
Indeed, according to IMF procedures, "standards and codes" refer to a set of provisions ("rules of the game") regulating the institutional environment in which economic and financial policies are designed and implemented.
“Countries with transparent and well-regulated institutions generally achieve better economic results and enjoy greater financial stability than others. It is therefore in the interest of member countries to adopt and apply internationally accepted standards and codes,” states an IMF Factsheet reviewed by Seneweb.
