Suspension des ventes de pommes de terre des agrobusiness à partir du 28 février
As part of monitoring the local potato marketing campaign, the Regulatory Agency has put in place a system aimed at regulating the domestic market and ensuring a balanced coexistence between agribusinesses and small farmers.
Following the import freeze implemented on January 16, 2025, harvests from family farms are beginning to reach the market. Without appropriate regulatory measures, this situation risks leading to marketing difficulties, including post-harvest losses and unprofitable prices for producers.
To ensure better market regulation, the government has suspended the sale of potatoes by agribusinesses, effective February 28, 2026, until further notice. According to the relevant authorities, this suspension will allow small producers, who lack storage capacity, to sell their harvests under better conditions. Agribusinesses will then be able to resume their supplies.
Regular price monitoring will be ensured to prevent speculation and protect consumer purchasing power. Agribusinesses without cold storage facilities are encouraged to contact the Market Regulation Agency (ARM), which will provide them with storage infrastructure.
The government says it is counting on strict adherence to this measure and thanks you for your understanding and commitment to economic solidarity and support for local production. It is also important to remember that all shipments of potatoes must be accompanied by a consignment note signed by the ARM (Agency for the Regulation of Agriculture).
