Bébé Bass au chevet de l'école Plan Jaxaay 21
A new lease of life for education in Plan Jaxaay. This Thursday, January 29, the Bébé Bass Solidarité foundation, led by the wife of singer Pape Diouf, inaugurated new classrooms and school latrine blocks at the Plan Jaxaay Unit 21 elementary school, in the presence of educational and administrative authorities and institutional partners.
This ceremony marks the culmination of a project with a strong social impact, designed to improve students' learning conditions and strengthen the school environment in an area facing numerous structural challenges.
A commitment born from an alarming observation
This initiative originated from a field visit by Bébé Bass to the Plan Jaxaay 21 school. On site, the observation was clear: a glaring lack of classrooms, unsanitary and unusable latrines, and an overload of students forcing the establishment to operate in double or even triple flow.
Faced with this worrying situation, the Bébé Bass Solidarité foundation has decided to take concrete action by financing a project to build and rehabilitate school infrastructure, in order to offer children a dignified and safe learning environment.
An inauguration marked by recognition
Speaking at the ceremony, Bébé Bass expressed her emotion and pride while offering her sincere thanks to the authorities and partners who supported the project. She commended the commitment of the Minister of National Education, Moustapha Mamba Guirassy, and his staff, particularly the Directorate of School Construction, for their guidance and availability throughout the process.
Bébé Bass did not fail to pay tribute to her husband Pape Diouf, whom she presented as an unwavering supporter who believed in this social initiative from the start.
The founder of Bébé Bass Solidarité also thanked the partners, patrons, benefactors and people of goodwill from both the public and private sectors, whose commitment made the project possible.
A collective action in service of children
Special tribute was paid to the team of the Bébé Bass Solidarité association, praised for their dedication, availability and crucial fieldwork in the success of this initiative.
"May this inauguration be a symbol of progress, hope and a lasting commitment to quality education for our children," said Bébé Bass.
A project presented at a charity gala
As a reminder, this project was officially presented at a charity gala dinner held on July 12, 2025, in Dakar, under the patronage of the Minister of National Education. This mobilization enabled the necessary resources to be raised to carry out the work.
A call for solidarity and civic engagement
Through the construction of these new classrooms at the Plan Jaxaay 21 school, the Bébé Bass Solidarité foundation confirms its commitment to inclusive and sustainable education, particularly in disadvantaged areas.
This exemplary initiative illustrates the crucial role that civil society actors can play in improving the living conditions of populations and constitutes a call for solidarity, inviting other people of goodwill to commit to the future of children.
