Rentrée scolaire à Fatick : L’IA appelle à la mobilisation des parents pour un démarrage effectif des cours

The start of the 2025-2026 school year in Fatick is marked by a low number of students in the establishments, a situation deplored by the Fatick academy inspector, El Hadj Mamadou Diouf.

"We regret the delay in student attendance. Parents must understand that time lost in the timetable cannot be made up," he insisted.

The AI is therefore inviting parents to become more involved in order to ensure better monitoring and promote good academic performance. It hopes for a rapid and effective start to teaching next week.

As part of the back-to-school monitoring, the inspector toured several preschool, elementary, middle and secondary schools, accompanied by the deputy governor in charge of development, the deputy prefect, local authorities, among others.

While student attendance remains low, a strong turnout of teaching staff was noted in all the schools visited. "We found establishments ready to welcome students, with administrations present and secure infrastructure that meets hygiene standards," said Mr. Diouf.

He also stressed that disinfection and pest control operations were also carried out to ensure a healthy environment conducive to learning.

However, some difficulties persist, particularly at Darel II Elementary School, where parts of the courtyard remain flooded. "These schools were built in non-aedificandi areas. Under these conditions, Sonaged was unable to carry out complete weeding," explained the school inspector.
