Élèves, étudiants, structures…: Les chiffres records de la rentrée
The school year is just a few days away. It will affect 4,455,435 learners (pupils and students), 115,545 teaching staff members, and 21,327 institutions. The figures were revealed yesterday, Friday, during the interministerial meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office.
"Senegalese schools are destined to become the matrix of our collective project. A matrix of transformation. The figures bear witness to this. More than 2,350,000 students in elementary school, nearly 900,000 in middle school, and 400,000 in secondary school. If we were to integrate young people into daaras, we would already be around 4 million, not counting the 128,000 learners in the Ministry of Vocational Training and the 300,000 students in the university system," said Moustapha Guirassy, Minister of National Education, during the meeting.
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation assured that this year, public universities will be able to accommodate all high school graduates. "We have 77,389 high school graduates and the number of high school graduates who have applied for guidance is 75,656. Universities had 74,476 places available," explained Daouda Ngom.
