The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) plans to strengthen the teaching staff in public universities. In fact, by 2026, the ministry, headed by Daouda Ngom, aims to recruit 500 new teachers, according to the report of the commission reviewing the MESRI budget.
These recruitments aim to improve the quality of supervision and stabilize academic years. Indeed, this initiative will address shortages in certain programs, meet the actual needs of universities, and ensure more personalized student support. Furthermore, the Ministry emphasizes that these recruitments are part of a comprehensive plan to strengthen academic performance and promote excellence.
In parallel, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) plans to continue expanding the university network to better cover the national territory and alleviate overcrowding at major universities. To this end, new campuses and university institutions will be opened, including the University of Eastern Senegal and the Souleymane Niang University of Matam.
