Semaine Nationale de l’École de Base à Podor : Les Lions du football érigés en modèles de citoyenneté
The Podor department launched its National Basic Education Week activities under the theme of transmitting values. Prefect Mouhamédoune Diop took this opportunity to encourage students to draw inspiration from the discipline and commitment of the Lions of Teranga (the Senegalese national football team) to succeed in their civic journey.
For the prefect of Podor, this celebration remains a key moment for national mobilization. It allows for a clear-eyed assessment of the achievements and challenges of basic education, the true foundation of all training. The event is also a prime opportunity to strengthen dialogue between schools and the community, while promoting equity and quality learning.
The "School of Values" Initiative at the heart of the program
The head of the departmental executive enthusiastically welcomed the establishment of a special day dedicated to the new "School of Values" initiative. This program aims to transform schools into true centers of moral and civic education, perfectly aligned with the "Senegal 2050" vision.
According to the authorities, the goal is to restore the importance of fundamental values: respect for the symbols of the Republic, a strong work ethic, civic responsibility, solidarity, and environmental protection. "School can no longer be merely a place of academic learning; it must be the crucible where the essential behaviors for life in society are forged," Mouhamédoune Diop emphasized. Addressing the students directly, he urged them to honor the country through hard work and respect for their elders.
The Lions: a "life lesson" for young people
The Lions of Teranga's victory and performance were cited as examples this week. For the prefect, beyond the sporting triumph, it is the players' commitment, rigorous discipline, and team spirit that constitute an inspiring model for children.
“The Lions competition concretely illustrated the values that the school strives to instill every day: perseverance, respect for the rules, and the pursuit of excellence,” he emphasized. Like the African champions, each student was encouraged to believe in their abilities and understand that individual success is inseparable from collective effort.

Depuis que le Sénégal a misé sur la formation, nous avons de bons joueurs, et avons gagné 2 coupes d'afrique.
Dans tous les domaines, misons sur la formation, et l'apprentissage...
