Rapport du Coud, mort d’Abdoulaye Bâ : Le Collectif des amicales de l’Ucad précise
Faced with the accusations against the students arrested since the events at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, the Collective of UCAD associations took to the airwaves this Saturday.
In its press release, seen by Seneweb, it specifies that none of its members are responsible for the material damage that occurred during the recent clashes at the social campus in Dakar.
"We call upon all students to witness: no report from the University Works Center of Dakar (COUD) can be attributed to our comrades currently detained at the Central Police," the collective specifies.
Its members denounce a move that aims to "exonerate the defense and security forces from all responsibility." Consequently, the Collective "categorically rejects any attempt to increase the charges against" its arrested members.
"According to information provided by our lawyers, the only charges retained at this stage concern the alleged destruction of public property, based on a report from COUD estimating the damage at 500 million CFA francs," the group stated.
He wonders how a student could be held solely responsible for such widespread destruction on campus. "What role did the police officers play, who are clearly seen in widely circulated videos destroying buildings, including student property?" he asks.
The Collective therefore demands the immediate release of its detained members and calls for justice to be done for Abdoulaye Ba.
