Reorganization of scholarship allocations: The Scholarship Office announces new consultations with students

Réorganisation des allocations de bourses : La Direction des bourses annonce de nouvelles concertations avec les étudiants

The Scholarship Directorate announces further consultations with students, following the announcement of the reorganization of the student grant payment system.

In a statement released this Friday, February 6, the ministry indicated that it will initiate, "in the coming days, a series of consultations with student representatives from all public higher education institutions" in order to "gather their concerns and proposals" and integrate them into the ongoing process. These consultations are expected to lead to a renewed regulatory framework.

The statement specifies that these discussions will contribute to "the development of a better-suited decree, based on consultation and guaranteeing fairer and more efficient management".

Jean Amédé Diatta points out that during the workshop held on February 2nd and 3rd, 2026, "some students withdrew before the committee discussions." This workshop also aimed to "gather the views, contributions, and opinions of all stakeholders in the higher education system" regarding "a reorganization of payment mechanisms, with a view to improving their operation, clarity, and efficiency."

Despite this tense context, the Scholarship Directorate reaffirms its commitment to carrying out this reorganization "in a spirit of dialogue, shared responsibility and general interest", for the benefit of students and the national higher education system.

Les etudiants ont vraiment pris otage tous les gouvernements du Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade a rendu le probleme plus difficile en donnat des bourses a tous les etudiantm une premiere au monde. Mais ce regime ne peut pas demander aux etudiants de serrer le ceinture sans que le sacrifice commence avec eux: Diminution des salaires des moinistres, DG et deputes, reduction a moitie des Directions, Elimination de la moitie des voitures de service etc... Sinon il faut continuer de payer ces etudiants.

Ces pseudo technocrates ne comprennent rien des préoccupations des étudiants. Comment peut-on rester sans payer les bourses, fermer les restaurants et demander aux étudiants de discuter sur leurs bourses alors qu'au même moment Diomaye distribue des milliards aux lions et accompagnant de la FSF et du ministère des sports. On ne joue pas avec sa jeunesse qui a faim. Quand on nous dit que le problème des bourses est derrière nous et deux après rebelote. Quand on perd sa jeunesse, on perd le pouvoir.
