Thiès - Situation alarmante de l’ENSA : Le Saes décrète 72 heures de grève pour exiger des réformes structurelles
A 72-hour all-out strike, following a walkout widely supported by the Autonomous Union of Higher Education (SAES) branch of the National Higher School of Agriculture (ENSA) in Thiès, to denounce the alarming situation at the said institution. This is the slogan decreed by higher education teachers, who denounce the failings of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) and demand the urgent establishment of governance bodies.
The Secretary General of the Saes section of Ensa (Coordination of the Thiès Campus) and his colleagues criticize the MESRI for its "inaction despite numerous alerts and approaches." They state that they have "since February 2024, sent the Ministry several letters concerning, among other things, the organization of elections, the establishment of governance bodies, the allocation of a specific accounting officer, the inadequacy of the allocated budget, the transfer of services and the omission of Ensa in the decree on the distribution of services."
The union, which is threatening to toughen its action if its demands are not taken into account, is demanding, in particular, "the immediate organization of elections for management and departmental positions, in accordance with the texts in force"; "the rapid assignment of a specific accounting officer"; "the effective installation of the school's board of directors."
