Ucad : Vers la création d’une crèche et d’une direction du genre
As part of the celebration of International Women's Day, the Rector of Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) addressed a message of recognition and encouragement to all the women of UCAD. On this occasion, Professor Alioune Badara Kandji announced the creation of a daycare center at UCAD, a long-standing request from the university's female employees. The goal is to help mothers alleviate some of the family constraints so that they can be "much more effective at work."
He also announced the establishment of a social affairs and gender department. "We believe that women can bring us much more added value in terms of governance and research, and in all teaching activities and university life in general," he argued.
The Rector, who welcomed the significant presence of women in governance and research, pledged to strengthen the system to further enhance this representation. At UCAD, women hold positions such as Laboratory Directors, Heads of Departments, and Dean. UCAD even had an interim Rector in the person of Professor Aminata Niang Diène.
