UIDT de Thiès : Les étudiants décrètent 48 h de grève et une « Journée sans tickets »
The Conference of Student Associations (CAE), the only structure defending the interests of students at Iba Der Thiam University (UIDT) in Thiès, regrets to note that "instead of providing concrete answers, the authorities choose to oppose its legitimate concerns and to defend a position that does not address the urgency of the current situation."
Consequently, the CAE has decreed a 48-hour suspension of all academic activities, beginning this Wednesday, February 25, 2026, with a "Day Without Tickets" (JST) this Thursday. The students are demanding, in particular: "full payment of outstanding student arrears; the reinstatement of all changes related to scholarship allocations until a review is conducted in consultation with the students; and the immediate reinstatement of the student representative bodies, legitimately mandated by their peers."
The president of the CAE, Ben Momar Diouf, and his colleagues strongly condemn "any attempt at intimidation and repression." They reiterate that "the university is a whole. It cannot be fragmented according to an opportunistic interpretation of the law. Student campuses, as spaces dedicated exclusively to the student community, fully participate in university life and must, as such, benefit from the same guarantees and protections attached to academic freedom."
The Conference of Student Associations reaffirms its firm commitment to defending the interests of students.
