The Conference of Student Associations (CAE) of the Iba Der Thiam University of Thiès (UIDT-T), the only structure defending the interests of students, has addressed its entire community to decree a "cessation of all educational activity, this Tuesday, February 10, 2026."

The Conference President, Ben Momar Diouf, refers to "the very deplorable situation observed at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar and Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis, which constitutes an unacceptable scandal on the part of the state authorities."

He denounces "the use of such excessive, brutal and repressive means by defense and security forces against defenseless students, which constitutes a serious attack on academic freedoms and a flagrant violation of university autonomy despite the decision of the student associations to suspend union activities to date."

The conference condemns "in the strongest possible terms the intervention of the security forces on the UCAD campus, which led to the death of a fellow student." It offers its condolences to the family of the late Abdoulaye BA, a student in

"The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Minister of the Interior and the university authorities must assume their responsibilities by immediately and unconditionally removing these agents of repression from university campuses," demands the Conference of Student Associations, which reiterates its unwavering commitment to defending this noble student cause.
