Bourses universitaires : Jean Amédé Diatta annonce l’alignement du paiement sur le calendrier académique
After a two-day workshop dedicated to defining a new national scholarship policy and revising Decree No. 2012-963 of August 12, 2014 concerning the allocation of study allowances in higher education, the Director of Scholarships, Jean Amédé Diatta, held a press conference this Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Diatta announced that scholarship payments would be aligned with the academic calendar. "The Scholarship Directorate will ensure that the student's academic calendar corresponds to the payment schedule. Therefore, students should not expect to receive the same payment schedule. From now on, students who enroll in January will be paid starting that month, because that is when they officially become students, as the enrollment certificate is valid for the present and future and cannot be applied retroactively," he stated.
Jean Amédé Diatta reassured students that each of them would receive their full 12 months of allowance regardless of the circumstances. "The direct consequence of such a decision is that students will receive monthly payments over twelve months and that back payments, in this case, will not be possible," he stated.
The Director of Scholarships clarified that these decisions will not affect first-time applicants. "For those who have just received their baccalaureate, the scholarship allocation committee will meet in February 2026 to decide on their case," he explained.
