Violences dans des collèges à Dakar-Plateau : Le ministère de l’Éducation nationale annonce des sanctions fermes
Incidents have been reported for several days in schools under the jurisdiction of the Dakar-Plateau Education and Training Inspectorate (IEF). Groups of students are occupying some schools to force their classmates out, under the pretext of supporting the student strike movement.
According to the Ministry of National Education, these actions disrupted teaching and caused damage to school infrastructure. Stone-throwing incidents were reported.
The Abdoulaye Maturin Diop, Ahmet Sy Malick, Blaise Diagne, Thierno Birahim Mbacké, Awa Balla Mbacké and Ousmane Diop Coumba Pathé colleges are mentioned in the press release.
In response to this situation, the ministry has announced a strengthening of security measures in collaboration with administrative authorities and defense and security forces. The stated objective is to guarantee the continuity of education and to secure school premises.
Any student caught in the act of destroying or disrupting classes will be brought to justice, the department warns. Administrative sanctions are also planned, which could include permanent expulsion or removal from the examination lists. The parents of the students involved will be held accountable.
The ministry also calls on the entire educational community and local authorities to be vigilant in order to prevent further incidents.
